TRADUTTORE, TRADITTORI IDIOMAS

Every language has special words that don't exist in any other language. They can be literally translated, but since they require a long definition we've taken the liberty of calling these linguistic gems "untranslatable words".
One interesting example is "Iktsuarpok" from the Inuit language. It describes the feeling of anticipation when you're expecting a guest which leads you to keep checking if they've arrived. Then there's the Indonesian word "Jayus". It describes an unfunny joke told so poorly that you cannot help but laugh at it anyway.
Untranslatable words are not exclusive to the arctic and the tropics; they exist in less exotic languages too. We asked a few of our colleagues from all over the world to explain their favorite untranslatable words from their native languages
